Richard Carapaz seized stage 18 on a lone ride up the Alps. Tour leader Tadej Pogačar retains yellow. Mads Pedersen extends his lead on the green jersey classification. Jonas Vingegaard lost points in the mountains race. A spectator ran onto the the road near the top of the top. Carapaz was forced to swerve clear just in time. The fallout came two kilometres out from the summit. No riders went down. Leaders pushed on.
