sardinella aurita attended central East Atlantic, an elongate pelagic fish with a rounded belly, eight pelvic-fin rays on the ventral side and frontoparietal stripes on the head. usually 23-28 cm in length, can reach about 30 cm. a distinctive spot on the hind border of the gill cover. It is commonly found in the central East Atlantic, often caught alongside related sardine species. Careful identification is needed in mixed catches.
